Morning Bible Time

 

Every morning, after breakfast and quiet book time, we meet together as a family for Bible time.  We start by singing some hymns, then Paul (Daddy) reads the passage that we are up to in the Bible and gives a short explaination and exhortation from it.  Currently we are in 1 Samuel, having done the Gospels and Acts before that.  Daddy usually asks the children some questions about what we have read.  Nathanael especially takes in alot from this time; I often hear him telling Granny eagerly about what we have been studying.  We then have a time of prayer and practise our memory verses.  Some of our favourite Psalms are 1, 8, 23, 91 and 150.  At the moment we are also learning the books of the Old Testament.  The children are very good at learning the passages and Miriam at 18 months joins in with some words from them! It is really lovely to see them reciting God's word.

We love Postal Bible School

Every month, we get our Postal Bible School lessons through the door.  And what excitement there is! They are fun filled Bible lessons and activity work sheets for all ages.

Students who enroll with a PBS will be sent a fun filled Bible lesson each month, the lesson they receive depends on their age and understanding. Each lesson is split into 4 studies so that one can be completed per week. Once the entire lesson is complete, it is posted back to the PBS centre for marking and feedback.

Joining a PBS is free, the only cost to you is that of the stamp to return your lesson.

Mrs Jackson marks their work, sticks lots of stickers on and sends it back with a letter and often a gift.  There is a prize giving every May, BBQ in the Summer and Carol Service at Christmas. She also sends colouring sheets for Abigail who is too young to complete the lessons.

Family Days

Every week we go out together on a 'Family Day.' It is definitely one of the highlights of the week! We usually go to a museum, art gallery or walk in the country.  There are so many wonderful places to visit in the North West of England.  We have a long list of places we hope to visit this year.

Monthly Drawing Book

When Nathanael was about 18 months, I had the idea of starting a monthly drawing book, to keep a record of his creative development.  He gets a free choice of what to draw and what materials he uses, and it is fascinating to see month by month what he produces. He also loves to look back at the drawings he did when he was younger.  The girls each have one too, Miriam at 18 months, has just started hers.

Our Newest Blessing

We welcomed our fifth child, Elisabeth Ruth, into our family just before Christmas. 

After my easiest and quickest birth so far we were back from the hospital in time for her big sister Abigail's 3rd Birthday.

Nathanael and Tabitha are getting to the age where they can do alot of the sewing themselves without much help from me (apart from the continual threading of needles!)
